Apple iPad Air device failing to enroll through ABM with "failed to retrieve configuration" error. This error occurs while reaching Apple ABM for fetching MDM server enrollment details. When using the SoftwareUpdateEnforcementSpecific to target an update to iPad OS 18.7.1, will the update be triggered to be downloaded immediately after the iPad has an active Internet connectivity? Or, if the SoftwareUpdateSettingsAutomaticActionsObject download string is set to AlwaysOff, will this mean that the update enforced will not start downloading automatically, but only when the user decides? I am trying to understand how these two can be combined together or if they work independently, as while trying to enforce a specific version, we need to eliminate the possibility to download an iPad OS version using cellular data, as our devices have an eSIM installed and the cost of using that for the iOS updates will be quite high. Maybe there is a setting to only allow the iOS updates to be downloaded via Wi-Fi. Thanks!

Hi. I am writing a little MDM application. Despite the basic task (add a password for 'remove profile' button in settings), it seems I am stuck with a problem: When I try to enroll my device with enrollment.mobileconfig file, Apple Configurator app, I receive an error The profile “Enrollment Profile” could not be installed because it is invalid. Make sure the profile is valid and try installing it again. The original architecture of my .mobileconfig contains of two payloads (com.apple.security.scep , com.apple.mdm), and it works correctly. However, when I try to add a third payload of com.apple.profileRemovalPassword , I receive the error stated above. From logs collected on iPhone, here's what was found : Failed to parse profile data. Hello, I have an Apple Developer Enterprise account, and Apple Support has already enabled MDM for my account. I successfully downloaded and installed my MDM Vendor Certificate (it shows up in Keychain as MDM Vendor: [My Company Name] with its private key). Here’s what I’ve done so far: Exported the Vendor Certificate + private key as a .p12, then converted to .pem and .key using OpenSSL. Generated an unsigned CSR with CN=com.apple.mgmt.External. using OpenSSL. Attempted to sign the CSR using: my Vendor certificate the Vendor private key Apple Worldwide Developer Relations (WWDR) intermediate certificate OpenSSL smime -sign command with DER output Problem: Every time I try to upload the vendor-signed CSR to the Apple Push Certificates Portal, I get an error (CSR rejected). Sometimes OpenSSL even fails with “unable to load certificates” depending on how the WWDR certificate is included. My Questions: What is the correct OpenSSL command and certificate chain Apple expects for signing the CSR? Do I need to include any additional intermediates besides WWDR? Is there an official Apple reference example for generating the vendor-signed CSR that the Push Certificates Portal will accept? Hi Apple Community, At WWDC25, introduced a native device migration feature with iOS/macOS 26 and Apple Business Manager that promises seamless migration from one MDM to another without wiping devices or manual re-enrollment. That said, while testing this in iOS/macOS 26 beta, we ran into an issue: the Wi-Fi settings deployed by the old MDM aren’t retained during the migration. This means devices lose Wi-Fi connectivity partway through, and users have to manually reconnect before the migration to the new MDM can continue. This interrupts what should be a smooth, hands-off process. We wanted to ask if this is a known issue or limitation with the current beta? Are there any recommended ways to avoid losing Wi-Fi profiles during this migration window? Will this improve in future updates so that the Wi-Fi connection is preserved or seamlessly handed off to the new MDM? In my workflow, I need to reset test devices multiple times per day using the EraseDevice MDM command, often combined with the ReturnToService flag for automated setup. I understand that after a full reset, the device undertakes several critical steps to become operational again, including device activation, system app installation, MDM re-enrollment, and subsequent validation of developer certificates for internally distributed apps. Based on Apple’s documentation and my own observations, I am aware of the following domains being involved in these processes: Device Activation: albert.apple.com, gs.apple.com, captive.apple.com, humb.apple.com, static.ips.apple.com, sq-device.apple.com, tbsc.apple.com, time*.apple.com System App Installation: *.itunes.apple.com, *.apps.apple.com, *.mzstatic.com MDM Enrollment: Communication with Apple ADE servers followed by the MDM server. Would also appreciate if you have another way to turn off shortcuts notifications permanently since when I turn it off via screen time it keeps turning itself ON every couple of days.

Hello, this may not be the correct place to ask this question so I apologize in advance if this is the case. We are currently having some issues when attempting to restore device back ups via iCloud that where previously enrolled to our MDM solution, as upon the restore no app data seems to be persisted over (we have tested restoring the backup on the same device and we have been able to have data persist between wipes) On the initial device we have ensured that the restrictions allowCloudKeychainSync allowManagedAppsCloudSync are set to true, and can see that the initial devices back up has the app data backed up, yet despite this data is not persisted when restoring from back up on a new device. On the device where the back up was initially done when restoring the applications are applied but indicated that they must be re-installed via our management console, once the app has been uninstalled and reinstalled the old data does show up, when applied to the new device our mdm solution pushes down the app.managed config but the device treats it as a new install. Could this possibly be due to us using Device Licensing when assigning apps? Or is it due to the intial device only performing a token update request when restoring and the new device going through the entire checkin proccess? Both devices are provisioned via DEP, and applications where assigned initially via VPP Any insight on this would be useful (For reference this is an MDM solution of our own making so we are attempting to sus out if there is a configuration issue we could be overlooking).

Hello, I’ve run into an issue with a configuration profile on my supervised iPhone. I’m wondering if anyone here might be able to help? The profile contains the allowListedAppBundleIDs key within the restrictions payload. My Apple Watch is paired with the iPhone. The iPhone was supervised manually with Apple Configurator, hence the Apple Watch has not been directly supervised itself. The profile works completely as expected when installed on the phone. As soon as the profile is installed on the iPhone, I can witness the apps on the Apple Watch rearrange themselves as some apps are hidden. So clearly the profile is applying its restrictions to the Apple Watch to some degree. My issue however is that apps listed in the whitelist are hidden from the Watch. The apps that are missing from my Watch are Walkie Talkie, Find My Items, Find My Friends, Messages, Alarm, Remote, Now Playing, Sleep, Meditation and Heart Rate. This is despite the following bundle IDs being listed in the whitelist array: com.apple.findmy.findpeople, com.apple.findmy.finddevices, com.apple.HeartRate, com.apple.SessionTrackerApp, com.apple.NanoWorldClock, com.apple.findmy.finditems, com.apple.Mind, com.apple.NanoOxygenSaturation, com.apple.watchmemojieditor com.apple.NanoSleep com.apple.NanoNowPlaying com.apple.noise com.apple.tincan com.apple.NanoRemote com.apple.NanoAlarm com.apple.private.NanoTimer com.apple.NanoStopwatch I’ve done some testing, but not sure what I’ve found really. I’ve so far identified 3 scenarios. Scenario 1: I have the whitelist profile installed on the iPhone. I download an app that appears in the whitelist from my watch (or at least its iPhone version does). The apps show up on the iPhone automatically and can be launched there. These apps cannot be launched on the watch. Scenario 2: I downloaded a few apps to my watch, that didn’t automatically install on my iPhone at the same time. They were on the whitelist. These ones couldn’t be launched from my Watch. I then downloaded them to the iPhone and they could be launched there (since they were on the whitelist). Scenario 3: A couple of 3rd party apps on the whitelist could be downloaded and launched from the watch with the whitelist installed. It seems as though there are different kinds of Apple Watch app and this is what I’ve read elsewhere. First of all there are Watch-only apps, which do not automatically install a companion iPhone app. Secondly there are companion apps, which when installed from the Watch App Store download their companion app to the iPhone in the background. Someone please correct me - I’m bound to be overlooking something here. So maybe the apps that when installed from Watch automatically install on iPhone and can only be launched from the iPhone have a separate bundle ID for their Watch app which I haven’t included? Apps that are on the whitelist AND do not automatically install an iPhone app AND can be launched from the Watch, include: solstice What3words So maybe these do not need a companion app, but have the same Bundle ID as their iPhone app? However, I’m still not sure why many stock Apple Watch apps are missing from the Watch…. The most obvious answer is that I’ve got their Bundle IDs wrong, but I don’t think I have given I extracted the bundle IDs from the App Store pages of the Apple WatchOS apps. I noticed at this Apple Support page (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/deployment/dep34c5cd30f/1/web/1.0) that there is no mention of whitelisting or blacklisting apps on WatchOS using MDM, yet something definitely happens on the watch when the configuration profile is installed on the iPhone. Furthermore, if I tap on a configuration profile, which comprises a blacklist, on my iPhone it will ask me if I want to install it on the iPhone or Watch. The same pop-up question doesn’t happen when the profile contains a whitelist. All this to say, I’m massively confused as to why I can’t get this working. I’d really appreciate anyone’s advice which is bound to be expert. Thank you

This test setup is Jamf Pro as the MDM with Entra as the IdP. PSSO is working on Sequoia devices. Prior to Tahoe, PSSO required the following three items: An existing local account, the delivery of Company Portal, and a profile containing PSSO payload. Based on the Tahoe announcement, it looks like PSSO is now available during Setup Assistant, removing the requirement of first creating a local account. I assume this means that the requirements now as easy as deploying Company Portal and the PSSO profile during the Pre-Stage policy. I attempted this on the macOS 26 beta 1 and during Setup Assistant, with the PSSO profile delivered, Setup Assistant prompts me to login to my IdP. However, pressing Continue will result in a failure, notifying me that the application required is not available. The continue button is now inactive but a "try again" button is available. This results in the loop of trying and then failing, stating that the required application is not available. I eventually must quit Setup Assistant which exits it and drops me at the login window. The only account that is visible is the management account. A trip into DFU and an IPSW restore then follows. Am I trying this too soon? Is PSSO at Setup Assistant not yet fully supported? Is there another requirement other than delivering Company App in the prestige alongside the profile? I've enabled the beta channel in MAU but there is no newer Company Portal being offered. Any guidance here would be appreciated as this is the PSSO announcement I've been waiting for since the deprecation of Apple Enterprise Connect.

Hello, I am currently attempting to use declarative management to install enterprise application, however I am running into errors. Initially the device was failing to unpac the initial manifest it downloaded. After pulling logs from the device it was revealed that the manifest must include the bundle-version for it to parse as valid. Adding this has allowed for the ipa to be fetched from the server however there is a secondary issue. The application is on the device but is unable to be opened due to the device being unable to validate its integreti. Any additional information would be useful. For completion the working manifest will be pasted below. Hello, We're testing the new allowedExternalIntelligenceWorkspaceIDs key in the MDM Restrictions payload on supervised iPads. According to Apple's documentation, this key expects an "external integration workspace ID", but it's not clear what this specifically refers to. We've tried the following IDs individually (one at a time, as documentation says only one is supported currently): OpenAI Organization ID ChatGPT user email Apple ID used in ChatGPT Google ID used in ChatGPT login The profile installs correctly via MDM and the key is set, but we want to confirm: What exactly is considered a valid "external integration workspace ID" for this key? Is there a way to verify that the restriction is working as intended on the device (e.g. does it limit specific integrations or apps)? Is there an official list of services that currently support this? Any clarification from Apple or other developers with experience on this would be very helpful. Thanks in advance.

I created a provisional profile from apple developer portal for my iOS app. The expiry date shown in the profile is 21-April 2026. However, when I build the app with this provisional profile the expiry date shown in the app is 11 Dec, 2025. My iOS distribution certificate expires only in November 2026. I see a embeded.mobileprovision profile inside the app, and it has an expiry of 11-Dec-2025. I did a clean build,, cleared unnecessary profiles from profile folder, created a new provisional profile and tried, but nothing seems help. We have a few apps, and no other app has this issue. We do annual release of all apps together for provisional profile renewal. As this app expiry is different, it will cause lot of difficulty for us next year. Will you please help me to resolve this issue? Thanks.

There is a longstanding restriction payload for supervised iOS devices that disables "Erase All Content and Settings." We have been experimenting with supervised watches paired with supervised phones that have that payload applied, and yet "Erase All Content and Settings" remains available on the watch. Is this: – a) An error with our payload? Should we be sending something else? – b) A bug in watchOS supervision? – c) A deliberate design choice? If so, what is the rationale for preventing organizations from maintaining this very basic level of control over devices they may be configuring and dispatching into the field?
