Hello,
I am implementing "Sign in with Apple" on my backend and validating the Identity Token (JWT) received from the client.
I noticed that for some users who choose the "Hide My Email" option, the is_private_email claim is missing from the ID Token payload, even though the email address clearly belongs to the private relay domain (@privaterelay.appleid.com).
Here is an example of the decoded payload I received:
{ "iss": "https://appleid.apple.com", "aud": "xxx", "exp": 1764402438, "iat": 1764316038, "sub": "xxxxxxxx", "c_hash": "3FAJNf4TILzUgo_YFe4E0Q", "email": "xxx@privaterelay.appleid.com", "email_verified": true, "auth_time": 1764316038, "nonce_supported": true // "is_private_email": true <-- This field is missing }
My Questions:
Is the is_private_email claim considered optional in the ID Token?
Is it safe and recommended to rely solely on the email domain suffix (@privaterelay.appleid.com) to identify if a user is using a private email?
Any insights or official references would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi everyone,
I want users not to see the system context menu when long-pressing text on a page in Safari on iOS. I found on MDN that the CSS property -webkit-touch-callout: none; can achieve this. But in reality, it doesn't really work.
MDN documents URL: https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/Reference/Properties/-webkit-touch-callout
Here’s a minimal example:
function preventIOSSafariContextMenu() {
if (document.getElementById(STYLE_ELEMENT_ID)) return;
if (!IS_TOUCH_DEVICE) return;
const style = document.createElement("style");
style.id = STYLE_ELEMENT_ID;
style.textContent = `
html, body {
-webkit-touch-callout: none !important;
}
`;
(document.head || document.documentElement).appendChild(style);
}
The context menu persists.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is this an intentional change in WebKit, or could it be a regression? If it’s intentional, is there a recommended alternative?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
Device: iPhone 17 Pro
iOS Version: iOS 26.1
Camera: Ultra-wide (0.5x) using AVCaptureSession
Our camera app freezes on iPhone 17 when switching frame rates (30fps ↔ 60fps). This works fine on iPhone 16 Pro and earlier.
What We've Observed:
Freeze happens on frame rate change - particularly when stabilization was enabled
Thread.sleep is used - to allow camera hardware to settle before re-enabling stabilization
Works on older iPhones - only iPhone 17 exhibits this behavior
Console shows these errors before freeze:
17281
<<<< FigXPCUtilities >>>> signalled err=18446744073709534335 <<<< FigCaptureSourceRemote >>>> err=-17281
Is Thread.sleep on the main thread causing the freeze? Should all camera configuration be on a background queue?
Is there something specific about iPhone 17 ultra-wide camera that requires different handling?
Should we use session.beginConfiguration() / session.commitConfiguration() instead of direct device configuration?
Is calling setFrameRate from a property's didSet (which runs synchronously) problematic?
Are the FigCaptureSourceRemote errors (-17281) indicative of the problem, and what do they mean?
Avplayer encapsulates a player. After connecting to an Apple Bluetooth headset, it immediately reports an error. Non-Apple Bluetooth headsets can be played, but currently the issue is that the player works normally in one app but not in another. We are an educational app.
Hello everyone,
I’m looking for guidance regarding my app review timeline, as things seem unusually delayed compared to previous submissions.
My iOS app was rejected on November 19th due to AI-related policy questions.
I immediately responded to the reviewer with detailed explanations covering:
Model used (Gemini Flash 2.0 / 2.5 Lite)
How the AI only generates neutral, non-directive reflective questions
How the system prevents any diagnosis, therapy-like behavior or recommendations
Crisis-handling limitations
Safety safeguards at generation and UI level
Internal red-team testing and results
Data retention, privacy, and non-use of data for model training
After sending the requested information, I resubmitted the build on November 19th at 14:40.
Since then:
November 20th (7:30) → Status changed to In Review.
November 21st, 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th → No movement, still In Review.
My open case on App Store Connect is still pending without updates.
Because of the previous rejection, I expected a short delay, but this is now 5 days total and 3 business days with no progress, which feels longer than usual for my past submissions.
I’m not sure whether:
My app is in a secondary review queue due to the AI-related rejection,
The reviewer is waiting for internal clarification,
Or if something is stuck and needs to be escalated.
I don’t want to resubmit a new build unless necessary, since that would restart the queue.
Could someone from the community (or Apple, if possible) confirm whether this waiting time is normal after an AI-policy rejection?
And is there anything I should do besides waiting — for example, contacting Developer Support again or requesting a follow-up?
Thank you very much for your help. I appreciate any insight from others who have experienced similar delays.
A functioning Multiplatform app, which includes use of Continuity Camera on an M1MacMini running Sequoia 15.5, works correctly capturing photos with AVCapturePhoto. However, that app (and a test app just for Continuity Camera) crashes at delegate callback when run on a 2017 MacBookPro under MacOS 13.7.5. The app was created with Xcode 16 (various releases) and using Swift 6 (but tried with 5). Compiling and running the test app with Xcode 15.2 on the 13.7.5 machine also crashes at delegate callback.
The iPhone 15 Continuity Camera gets detected and set up correctly, and preview video works correctly. It's when the CapturePhoto code is run that the crash occurs.
The relevant capture code is:
func capturePhoto() {
let captureSettings = AVCapturePhotoSettings()
captureSettings.flashMode = .auto
photoOutput.maxPhotoQualityPrioritization = .quality
photoOutput.capturePhoto(with: captureSettings, delegate: PhotoDelegate.shared)
print("**** CameraManager: capturePhoto")
}
and the delegate callbacks are:
class PhotoDelegate: NSObject, AVCapturePhotoCaptureDelegate {
nonisolated(unsafe) static let shared = PhotoDelegate()
// MARK: - Delegate callbacks
func photoOutput(
_ output: AVCapturePhotoOutput,
didFinishProcessingPhoto photo: AVCapturePhoto,
error: (any Error)?
) {
print("**** CameraManager: didFinishProcessingPhoto")
guard let pData = photo.fileDataRepresentation() else {
print("**** photoOutput is empty")
return
}
print("**** photoOutput data is \(pData.count) bytes")
}
func photoOutput(
_ output: AVCapturePhotoOutput,
willBeginCaptureFor resolvedSettings: AVCaptureResolvedPhotoSettings
) {
print("**** CameraManager: willBeginCaptureFor")
}
func photoOutput(_ output: AVCapturePhotoOutput, willCapturePhotoFor resolvedSettings: AVCaptureResolvedPhotoSettings) {
print("**** CameraManager: willCaptureCapturePhotoFor")
}
}

Of course, the MacBookPro is an old device - but Continuity Camera works with the installed Photo Booth app, so it's possible.
Any thoughts on solving this situation would be appreciated.

Deterministic RNG behaviour across Mac M1 CPU and Metal GPU – BigCrush pass & structural diagnostics
Hello,
I am currently working on a research project under ENINCA Consulting, focused on advanced diagnostic tools for pseudorandom number generators (structural metrics, multi-seed stability, cross-architecture reproducibility, and complementary indicators to TestU01).
To validate this diagnostic framework, I prototyped a small non-linear 64-bit PRNG (not as a goal in itself, but simply as a vehicle to test the methodology).
During these evaluations, I observed something interesting on Apple Silicon (Mac M1): • bit-exact reproducibility between M1 ARM CPU and M1 Metal GPU, • full BigCrush pass on both CPU and Metal backends, • excellent p-values, • stable behaviour across multiple seeds and runs.
This was not the intended objective, the goal was mainly to validate the diagnostic concepts, but these results raised some questions about deterministic compute behaviour in Metal.
My question: Is there any official guidance on achieving (or expecting) deterministic RNG or compute behaviour across CPU ↔ Metal GPU on Apple Silicon? More specifically:
• Are deterministic compute kernels expected or guaranteed on Metal for scientific workloads?
• Are there recommended patterns or best practices to ensure reproducibility across GPU generations (M1 → M2 → M3 → M4)? • Are there known Metal features that can introduce non-determinism?
I am not sharing the internal recurrence (this work is proprietary), but I can discuss the high-level diagnostic observations if helpful.
Thank you for any insight, very interested in how the Metal engineering team views deterministic compute patterns on Apple Silicon.

I have many Apple devices, such as macbook, iPad and iPhone. It's very convenient for me to transfer files between devices. However, when I want to send files to my own device in public places, I often click on the wrong recipient because the list avatar keeps changing. I hope the list of recipients can be grouped One group is my own device (or the one I often send to), and the other group is other devices. When the user is about to send, the mouse will be in a relatively fixed and mentally expected area. I feel that this can reduce the probability of sending wrongly

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to reproduce the layout Apple Music uses for playlists, where there is header content above the table (artwork, title, buttons), and when you scroll, everything scrolls together—the header and table rows move as a single scrollable region.
Here’s an example of what I’m trying to achieve:
I’m using SwiftUI’s Table view and I haven’t found a clean way to place custom content above the table while keeping everything inside the same scroll view.
Is there currently a recommended way to achieve Apple Music–style scrollable header + table content using SwiftUI?
Thanks!
hi all,
as soon an audio is played in a whatever app, coreaudiod inserts a sleep prevent assertion for both, the system AND the display.
can i somehow stop the insertion of the display sleep assertion?

where PID 4145 is spotify.
but it doesn't matter which app is playing the audio.
any help would be appreciated

I am making an iOS step counting app and I have included a widget in the design. I would like to get the widget to pull data from the main app to display step count etc so I created a bundle id for the widget and have been trying to use a group id to link them together. The group capabilities for both seem to be set up/enabled properly with the same App Groups id, but I've been getting an error in xcode which says, "
'Provisioning Profile: "BUNDLE_ID" doesn't include the com.apple.developer.security.application-groups entitlement.' Try Again
But the identifiers do have the App Group id enabled. I have tried automatic signing, manual signing with generated profiles, unchecking and rechecking auto-signing, removing and re-adding the group capability. Creating a new bundle id from scratch, creating a new group id from scratch. Always I get the error. I've really pulled my hair out troubleshooting this and would appreciate support.
I'm happy to answer and questions or share details.
Thank you.
I have an app where I create UIToolbars and add them to UIViews programatically. I've never used autolayout for anything, I've never assigned any constraints to anything, etc.
This worked fine pre-iOS 26.
Now I'm trying to build for iOS 26 (liquid glass) and my toolbars are spamming my debug pane with hundreds of lines of autolayout warnings. Here are some key phrases from the warnings:
Unable to simultaneously satisfy constraints.
Will attempt to recover by breaking constraint
Make a symbolic breakpoint at UIViewAlertForUnsatisfiableConstraints to catch this in the debugger.
(Note: If you're seeing NSAutoresizingMaskLayoutConstraints that you don't understand, refer to the documentation for the UIView property translatesAutoresizingMaskIntoConstraints)
Does anybody know what happened and how I can get it to stop? The way things are, I can't use the debug pane for anything because of this spam.
Trying to test IAP in sandbox. I created the test group and tester accounts. Accepted the invite downloaded the app. Signed into to sandbox in settings with the tester account. In app the purchases are failing and throwing my catch error message product couldn't be found. I decided to test it from settings/ sandbox/ manage/ initiate purchase/ but I've been getting "can't complete transaction. Something went wrong, ant this transaction couldn't be completed. Try again later" since last week. I reached out to dev support over the phone then email and they couldn't or wouldn't provide assistance. I asked my senior at work she took a look at it and confirmed I created the IAP correctly and that my sandbox account could make test purchases in apps she make but couldn't get mine to work. The storekit test work fine in xcode I just don't know what to do now.
After Xcode 26.1 was updated and installing the OS 26.1 simulators, my app started crashing related to transformable properties. When I checked my schema, I noticed that properties with array collection types are suddenly set with an option transformable with Optional("NSSecureUnarchiveFromData")], even though I do not use any transformable types. I verified the macros, no transformable was specified. This is causing ModelCoders to encode/decode my properties incorrectly.
This is not an issue when I switch back to OS 26.0 simulators.
Dear Apple Developer Support,
I would like to request a technical escalation to the engineering team regarding an ongoing issue with Apple Pay domain verification.
Error returned by Apple
Even though Apple’s request to our domain returns HTTP 200, the verification still fails with:
resultCode: 13014
resultString: "Domain verification failed. Review your TLS Certificate configuration to confirm that the certificate is accessible and a supported TLS Cipher Suite is used."
requestUrl: https://developer.apple.com/services-account/QH65B2/account/ios/identifiers/verifyDomain
TLS Certificate Validation
We performed a full TLS analysis:
Certificate issued by Sectigo Public Server Authentication CA DV E36 (public trusted CA)
Full and correct certificate chain
No handshake errors
Configuration fully valid
SSL Labs rating: A
From our side, the TLS configuration is confirmed to be correct.
Accessibility of the .well-known file
The file is publicly and accessible
It returns 200 OK and the content is exactly identical to the file downloaded from the Apple Developer Portal, without any modification.
Our network team confirmed that Apple’s verification request also receives HTTP 200 when pressing “Verify” in the Apple Developer Console.
Network-side findings
We monitored Apple’s request in real time. Findings:
TLS handshake succeeds
No cipher mismatch
File delivered correctly
Status: 200 OK
No redirect or transformation applied
Despite this, Apple still returns error 13014.
Request for engineering review
We kindly request that an Apple engineer verify the following:
The actual TLS handshake performed by Apple's verification service (cipher suite, protocol negotiation, SNI, trust chain).
Whether the Sectigo issuing CA is fully trusted and supported by your domain-verification backend.
If there is an internal reason behind error 13014—since the external message does not provide actionable details.
Whether the response is rejected for reasons other than TLS, given that the file is accessible and the request returns 200.
The exact condition that leads Apple to report “TLS Certificate configuration is incorrect” in this case.
This issue is blocking an urgent deployment and must be resolved as soon as possible.

Is there any way to use blockedApplications to hide all apps in a category? Currently, I use blockedApplications to hide individual apps, but it doesn’t work when I select an entire category. I thought the only solution would be to use shield, which doesn’t hide the apps but creates a blocking shield.
However, I found an app on the App Store called Fokus, and it’s able to select a category and block all the apps in it. Does anyone know how this could be possible?

This is a M4 iMac 32GB 2TB where over the last few months memory use has been crazy. The worst offender is SimulatorTrampoline. I just opened a default iOS app and ran it in a simulator. So this is as simple as it gets: there's 1 SF Symbol and "Hello, world!" text.
iStatMenus shows SimulatorTrampoline at 10.7GB, Safari 5.2GB, Xcode at 3.2GB, and swap at 548MB
meanwhile ActivityMonitor shows the top memory use of Ildb-rpc-server at 2.30GB, Xcode at 523.4MB Swap is 548MB is the only number that matches and the fact that Memory used is ~26GB total.
Is this amount of memory use normal? Is iStat menu reporting something different than Activity monitor. This computer used to never swap. Any suggestions?
