Apple wallet considerations
As a company, we would like to implement digital passes in the Apple Wallet. We're wondering which option we should follow to be able to do so. Our company creates and manages access control devices to put on waste drop-off points. Our goal is to give the opportunity to our final users to unlock these drop-off points with their iphone. A contact told us to use the NFC & SE but this solution seems not to be available in France and not directly integrated with the Apple Wallet. We've seen Apple Wallet Access and Apple Wallet VAS as alternatives but we're not sure any of these two are really matching our usecase. We definitely want our passes to be directly integrated within the wallet, without an app.

Downtime feature makes phone freeze
My iphone freezes during the night, having the alarm not go off, me miss important things as I oversleep. And the phone needs to go thru hard reboot to get back to normal. It´s only been happening after I started using "Downtime". (An underdeveloped feature by Apple in the first place). I love locking my apps down nighttime for less screentime. Annoyingly it only happens once in a while, so I´m not able to link it directly to downtime consistently. I´m not developing an app right now so I´m steep ground with this post, but, with lack of sleep as this has messed up my sleep rythm several times, well I´m not able too anyway. I know ios well, and there isn´t much "to do" except having to always remember to turn off downtime (it doesn´t play well with shortcuts app either), but I hope someone from apple sees this and is able to push this bug into the right team as all reports I have seen goes on focus modes bugs, but not "downtime".

Invalid Entitlement: Unknown ID
I am attempting to configure appclips, but I am getting this error in App Store Connect. I created an app clips target in my project, I have checked the XCAsset files and it is included when archived and pushed to App Store Connect. In both my parent and my app clips target I've added the associated domains capabilities, with the following associated same domains for both targets: appclips:akin-server-side-staging.onrender.com appclips:akin-server-side.onrender.com applinks:akin-server-side-staging.onrender.com applinks:akin-server-side.onrender.com My server is configured to serve the following json at all permutations of the staging endpoints and prod endpoints for both well known and aasa without well known. We are currently developing a FindMy device and we're wondering how to use UWB ranging functionality in the "Find My" app.
The FindMy device is currently MFI certified, but we plan to support UWB ranging functionality in the Find My app, similar to AirTag. After searching for relevant information, I found the relevant UWB functions in this article "Nearby-Interaction-Accessory-Protocol-Specification-Release-R4", but we need to develop third-party applications ourselves. So how can we make it display distance and direction in the "Find My" app like AirTag does?

I have reviewed the documentation for Local Push Connectivity (see URL below) and, following the instruction in the "Important" section to "Request this entitlement from the Entitlement Request Page," I completed the application process for this Entitlement on March 11, 2026. However, as of today(March 18, 2026), it has not yet been added. Will the Entitlements field be added if I simply wait? My account (Apple ID), which submitted the application, belongs to three Team IDs. For convenience, I will refer to them as Team ID SV3XXXXXXX, Team ID NWKYYYYYYY, and Team ID WEJZZZZZZZ. The application status for Entitlements for each Team ID is as follows: Team ID SV3XXXXXXX Entitlements: Present. Applied for Entitlements on February 6, 2021. In app verification flow without addPaymentPassViewController
How do we get addPaymentPassViewController response for in app verification without calling that function ? Currently we have working in app provisioning but not in app verification. The apple docs say "The process of generating the cryptographic OTP value is the same as for generating activationData for In-App Provisioning.". How is it the same when in in app provisioning we have this button that returns all necessary info and for in app verification there is no clear way of recieving same info.

On iOS 26.3.1, deviceactivityd produces zero log output and never wakes a DeviceActivityMonitor extension at the scheduled time, even when the schedule is successfully registered. The extension's intervalDidStart(for:) method is never called. Steps to Reproduce: Create an app with a DeviceActivityMonitor extension subclass Add the com.apple.developer.family-controls entitlement to both the main app and extension targets Add a shared App Group entitlement to both targets In the main app, call: let center = DeviceActivityCenter() center.stopMonitoring([.myActivity]) let schedule = DeviceActivitySchedule( intervalStart: DateComponents(hour: 17, minute: 30), intervalEnd: DateComponents(hour: 17, minute: 45), repeats: true ) try center.startMonitoring(.myActivity, during: schedule) Verify registration succeeds: DeviceActivityCenter().activities.contains(.myActivity) returns true Background the app completely and wait for the intervalStart time (5:30 PM in this example) Expected Result: intervalDidStart(for:) is called in the extension process at 5:30 PM. isEligibleForAgeFeatures Behavior for BR DECA
Today is March 17th, which is the effective date for BR DECA. From what I can tell, isEligibleForAgeFeatures is still returning False for users in Brazil. Following up on https://developer.apple.com/forums/thread/816987?answerId=878188022#878188022, the API does not appear to be covering the requirements for this regulation. Could you please give some guidance on whether isEligibleForAgeFeatures will ever return True for Brazil? I'm also curious whether other apps are also seeing the same behavior (isEligibleForAgeFeatures=False) for users in BR today.

Using a merchant session from an external website in PKPaymentAuthorizationController?
There's a purchase I make pretty often on a particular site and I'm trying to automate the boring parts with a macOS app. I can pull the merchant session from their ValidateMerchant endpoint. I can see the Apple Pay dialogue appear, then it will disappear with "Payment Not Completed." Is it fundamentally not possible to use someone else's merchant session in your own app? Thanks

CloudKit: Efficient way to get user's rank in leaderboard without fetching all records? I'm building a leaderboard feature using CloudKit's public database and need advice on the best approach to calculate a user's rank efficiently. Current Setup Record Structure: Record Type: LeaderboardScore Fields: period (String): "daily", "weekly", "monthly", "allTime" score (Int): User's score profile (Reference): Link to user's profile achievedAt (Date): Timestamp Leaderboard Display: Initially fetch first 15 users (sorted by score descending) Paginate to load more as user scrolls Show total player count Show current user's rank (even if not in top 15) The Challenge I can fetch the first 15 users easily with a sorted query, but I need to display the current user's rank regardless of their position. For example: User could be ranked #1 (in top 15) ✅ Easy User could be ranked #247 (not in top 15) ❌ How to get this efficiently? My Current Approach Query records with scores higher than the user's score and count them: // Count how many users scored higher let predicate = NSPredicate( format: "period == %@ AND score > %d", period, userScore ) // Rank = count + 1 Concerns For 1000+ users with better scores, this requires multiple paginated queries Even with desiredKeys: [], I'm concerned about performance and CloudKit request limits Questions Is there a CloudKit API I'm missing that can efficiently count records matching a predicate without fetching all the records and paginating? Is this approach acceptable for a leaderboard with 1K-10K users? Does fetching with desiredKeys: [] help significantly with performance? Are there any optimizations I should consider to make this more efficient? What's the recommended approach for calculating user rank in CloudKit at this scale? Current Scale Expected: 1,000-10,000 active users per leaderboard period Platform: iOS 17+, SwiftUI Any guidance on best practices for leaderboards usecase in CloudKit would be greatly appreciated!

Intermittent connectivity issues on iOS 26.4 Beta - Potential iCloud Private Relay conflict
I am investigating a connectivity issue reported by a user running latest iOS 26.4 Public Beta on an iPhone 17 Pro Max. Unfortunately, I am unable to reproduce this behavior on my end as I do not have access to an iPhone 17 Pro Max for testing, and my current devices do not exhibit the issue. However, the user's logs suggest a system-level networking issue : Symptoms: Flutter App (package dio): Requests fail with The connection errored: Failed host lookup: 'mydomain.com' Firebase SDK: Unable to fetch Firestore documents Duration: The outage is random, lasting between 5 to 15 minutes before self-resolving Scope: It affects both Wi-Fi and Cellular data By the way I found this report from another developer experiencing the exact same behavior: "I run a mobile app that has millions of users. As of 1-2 weeks ago, we started getting reports that the app isn't working (failing to connect). It then goes back to connecting anywhere between 5 to 15-20 mins later. Every single one of those users was running iOS 26.4 beta, and their phones ranged from iPhone 17 PRO Max to regular iPhone 17s, to iPhone 16 PROs and Maxs. The only other thing is that all these users also had Apple Private Relay enabled. During the time the app wasn't able to connect, other apps on their phones like YouTube, also failed to connect. The issue is persistent whether on Wifi or cellular, didn't matter. I upgraded my iPhone 16 PRO Max to iOS 26.4, and wasn't experiencing the issue. I enabled Private Relay - and a few mins later on my own phone, I couldnt connect on my own app, and YouTube/Gmail also were experincing issue. It self-resolved 5-10 mins later. But it kept happening throughout the day. I've tested Network reset, I've also re-installed the apps, both still continued to have those weird intermittent outages. I just updated the phone to the latest version that was released a day ago, so far I'm not experiencing it, but as you can imagine, this is such a weird behaviour that it's concerning for me that I can't figure out the exact way to replicate it." I asked the user to test with iCloud Private Relay disabled, and it immediately fixed the problem -> so maybe this suggests that it might be related to how Private Relay handles traffic or DNS resolution in this beta ? Are other developers seeing an increase in SocketException or host lookup failures on the 26.4 Beta? Is this a known regression related to Private Relay that is expected to be patched before the RC/Final release?

After building the sample and enabling the file system extension the mount command is freezing. Any tips how to diagnose that? EASession(accessory:forProtocol:) always returns nil — MFI accessory iAP2
EASession(accessory:forProtocol:) always returns nil — MFI accessory iAP2 Platform: iOS 17+ | Hardware: Custom MFI-certified accessory (USB-C, iAP2) | Language: Swift Problem We have a custom MFI-certified accessory communicating over USB-C using ExternalAccessory. The app calls EASession(accessory:forProtocol:) after receiving EAAccessoryDidConnect but it always returns nil. We never get past session creation. What we have verified We captured a sysdiagnose on-device and analysed the accessoryd-packets log. The full iAP2 handshake completes successfully at the OS level: USB attach succeeds MFI auth certificate is present and Apple-issued Auth challenge and response complete successfully IdentificationInformation is accepted by iOS — protocol string and Team ID are correct EAAccessoryDidConnect fires as expected iOS sends StartExternalAccessoryProtocolSession — the OS-level session is established So the hardware, MFI auth, protocol string, and Team ID are all correct. Despite this, EASession(accessory:forProtocol:) returns nil in the app. We also confirmed: Protocol string in UISupportedExternalAccessoryProtocols in Info.plist matches the accessory exactly Protocol string in code matches Info.plist App entitlements are correctly configured EAAccessoryManager.shared().registerForLocalNotifications() is called before connection Current connection code @objc private func accessoryDidConnect(_ notification: Notification) { guard let accessory = notification.userInfo?[EAAccessoryKey] as? Is there a reliable way to know when iOS Is it actually ready to grant an EASession, rather than using a fixed delay? Is there a delegate callback or notification that fires when the accessory protocol session is ready to be opened, rather than relying on EAAccessoryDidConnect + an arbitrary delay? Are there any known conditions on iOS 17+ under which EASession returns nil even though the iAP2 handshake completed successfully at the OS level? Is retrying EASession after a nil result a supported pattern, or does a nil result mean the session will never succeed for that connection? Any guidance appreciated.

URL Filter Prefetch Interval guarantee
Hello, I have implemented a URL Filter using the sample provided here: Filtering Traffic by URL. I am also using an App Group to dynamically manage the Bloom filter and block list data. However, when I update my block list URLs and create a new Bloom filter plist in the App Group, the extension does not seem to use the updated Bloom filter even after the prefetch interval expires. Also for testing purpose can I keep this interval to 10 mins or below ?

Understanding NEHotspotConfigurationErrorInternal
Error 8 in the NEHotspotConfigurationError domain is .internal, aka NEHotspotConfigurationErrorInternal. This error typically indicates that something went wrong in some sort of expected way, but we decided not to surface the exact cause [1]. This has come up a bunch of times before on the forums, and I have various titbits to share. To start, I want to address some specific cases: You’ll see this error if your app isn’t signed with the com.apple.developer.networking.HotspotConfiguration entitlement. To fix this, use Xcode’s Signing & Capabilities editor to add the Hotspot capability to your app. Historically developers reported a situation where once they encountered the error it would show up consistently, but then it would go away on restarting the device. If you see behaviour like that, that’s definitely a bug and I encourage you to file it as such. I have more about filing such bugs in Filing a Wi-Fi Bug Report. Of course, you have to wait to reproduce the error again before you’ll be able to file that bug, because the act of restarting cleared the issue. I’ve seen reports where such problems only occur on a specific type of device, for example, on iPhone 16 but not on earlier or later iPhones. That’s definitely something that Apple should investigate, and I recommend that you file a bug about it. If the problem is being reported by your users but you can’t reproduce it yourself, consider the various suggestions in Using a Sysdiagnose Log to Debug a Hard-to-Reproduce Problem. Assuming you’re still here (-: the next step is to determine whether the problem is specific to NEHotspotConfigurationManager or not. Try joining the accessory’s network from Settings > Wi-Fi. Does that also have problems? If so, that’s not something we can help you with here on the forums. The focus of the Apple Developer Forums is primarily to help developers with the APIs in Apple’s various platform SDKs [2]. We’re not set up to help accessory developers with Wi-Fi issues. However, there are still things you can do, as I explain in Filing a Wi-Fi Bug Report. At this point you have an error that: Persists across restarts Happens with all Apple devices You can reproduce Only affects NEHotspotConfigurationManager If that’s correct then there are a couple of things you might look at: Coerce the error to an NSError and print that. Does it reveal anything interesting? Also check the underlying error property (NSUnderlyingErrorKey) for hints. When reproducing the error, monitor the system log for log entries in the com.apple.networkextension subsystem. Do those offer any clues? Filing a Wi-Fi Bug Report
Every now and again I end up helping a developer with a Wi-Fi issue. These fall into two groups: User-level Wi-Fi issues Development Wi-Fi issues A user-level Wi-Fi issue is one where the developer hasn’t created any of the products involved. An example of this is when you’re developing an app for an accessory and iOS is having problems connecting to that accessory but you don’t control the accessory’s firmware. In general, I recommend that you escalate such issues to the accessory vendor. They can then run their own investigation and, if necessary, file their own bug report. A development Wi-Fi issue is one that directly affects one of your products. For example, you’re developing a Wi-Fi accessory and iOS is having problems connecting to it. In that case, the onus is on you [1] to investigate why things are failing. If your conclusion is that iOS is behaving incorrectly, file a bug about that. IMPORTANT If you do file a bug in the context of some forums thread, please post your bug number to the thread, just for the record. When filing this sort of bug report it’s important to provide: Solid evidence that the problem is on the Apple side of the fence Enough information for Apple’s engineers to investigate it effectively Let’s start with that second point. If you can reproduce the problem reliably, install the Wi-Fi debug profile on your device, reproduce the problem, noting down a rough timestamp, and include the resulting logs and that timestamp in your bug report. Also, consider attaching a packet trace. There are three options here: Record a packet trace from the perspective of the Apple device. On iOS, use an RVI packet trace for this. Record a packet trace from the perspective of your accessory. Record a Wi-Fi level packet trace. You can do this from your Mac (see Recording a Wi-Fi Packet Trace) but it might be easier to do this with the infrastructure you used during the bring up of your accessory. It’s fine to include all three (-: Also include any relevant context about the issue. For example: If the issue is tied to a specific device model (In that case, it’d be good to include the above information for both the successful and failing cases.) If the problem shows up when joining from Settings > Wi-Fi, or whether it’s tied to a specific API, like NEHotspotConfigurationManager Finally, make sure to include an explanation of why you think this is an Apple bug, referencing specific items in the logs and packet traces that you attached. Of course, it’s only possible to do all of this if you can reproduce the problem. Investigating an intermittent issue based on reports coming in from users is much harder. It’s OK to file a bug about such issues, but your bug might not be actionable. At a minimum you should aim to include a sysdiagnose log with your bug. IMPORTANT This log has to be taken shortly after reproducing the problem. Don’t just attach any old log. One option is to request such a log from your users. You can also ask your users to file their own bugs using the Feedback Assistant app. It should automatically capture and attach a sysdiagnose log.
