Setting Installation Directory correctly is a mystery
Hello I'm wrapping my head around on how to properly set up xcode project to produce a static library ending up in file locations /usr/local/lib/libXXX.a and /usr/local/include/XXX/xxx.h so it can be used Unix style in other projects. If I put under Deployment Deployment Location: YES Installation Build Products Location: / Installation Directory: /usr/local/lib Skip Install: NO I get errors like warning: Stale file '/usr/local/usr/local/include/xxx.h' is located outside of the allowed root paths. and things like error: Cycle inside a single target; building could produce unreliable results. Installation Build Products Location: /usr/local/lib Installation Directory: / I get warning: Stale file '/usr/local/include/xxx.h' is located outside of the allowed root paths. but the library file is not put into /usr/local/lib (note /usr/local/lib and /usr/local/include are owned by my user and writeable) I could write an old style Makefile and have xcode call the makefile but there must be an easier way to do this. This is for a cross platform development so having it packaged into a Framework would not solve it neither.

How to Adding credit or debit cards from a card issuer’s website
Hi, I understand that it's possible to add a virtual debit or credit card from a mobile app into the iOS Wallet using PassKit from the Apple SDK. However, I haven't come across documentation on how to achieve this directly from a web app. I found this article on Apple's support site (https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/security/secdc2567239/web), which mentions adding cards from a card issuer’s website, but it doesn’t provide details on the process. Could you please confirm if it's possible to add a card directly from a web app without using a mobile app? If so, could you guide me to the relevant documentation? Thanks in advance!

iOS fails to fetch AASA file for IDNs
Subject: iOS Fails to Fetch AASA File for Internationalized Domain Names (IDN) in Unicode or Punycode Format Dear Apple Developer Relations Team And Community Members, We are reporting a critical bug in the iOS Associated Domains feature that prevents Universal Links from working for apps using Internationalized Domain Names (IDN). Problem Description: The iOS operating system does not attempt to download the apple-app-site-association (AASA) file for domains containing non-ASCII characters (e.g., diacritics, Cyrillic). This failure occurs regardless of whether the domain is specified in the app's entitlements in its human-readable Unicode format (e.g., montréal.ca) or its encoded Punycode format (e.g., xn--montral-fya.ca, xn--e1afka0abm4b.xn--p1ai). Without fetching and validating this file, Universal Links are not activated, and the system fails to establish a connection between the website and our app. Steps to Reproduce: Create an app with the Associated Domains entitlement enabled. Add an IDN to the entitlement. We tested both formats: Format A (Unicode): applinks://montréal.ca Format B (Punycode): applinks://xn--montral-fya.ca Host a valid AASA file on our server at the correct, accessible well-known URLs for both domain representations: For montréal.ca: https://montréal.ca/.well-known/apple-app-site-association and https://xn--montral-fya.ca/.well-known/apple-app-site-association Install the app on a device running the latest iOS version. Monitor network traffic using a tool like Charles Proxy. Observed Result: No HTTP GET request is made to any of the AASA URLs for the domains montréal.ca (in either Unicode or Punycode format) upon app installation. The system does not initiate the domain validation process. In contrast, for a standard ASCII domain (e.g., applinks://example.com), the AASA fetch is triggered immediately and is observed in the network log. Expected Result: iOS should correctly resolve the Internationalized Domain Name (whether specified in Unicode or Punycode format in the entitlement) and perform an HTTP GET request to fetch the AASA file from the /.well-known path, identical to its behavior for ASCII domains. Evidence & Configuration: Our server is configured correctly: SSL certificates are valid, the AASA file is served with the correct application/json MIME type, and is directly accessible via a browser or curl. The AASA file's syntax has been validated and is correct. The issue is reproducible on the latest versions of iOS. Impact: This bug blocks a core platform feature for millions of users in regions that use non-Latin scripts (e.g., France, Russia, China, Arab states). It makes it impossible to use Universal Links with our primary domains, severely degrading the user experience and forcing us to seek suboptimal workarounds like registering separate ASCII domains. Request: We kindly request that you investigate and log this issue as a bug in iOS and forward it to the appropriate engineering team for a fix in an upcoming update. We are prepared to provide any additional information, demo projects, or server access to assist in diagnostics. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.

UIStatusBarHidden doesn't work expectedly on iOS 26
When UIStatusBarHidden is set to YES, the navigation bar is displayed in the wrong vertical position immediately after app launch. The layout only corrects itself after the device orientation changes (e.g., rotation). Steps to Reproduce: Create a new app with a navigation controller. Set UIStatusBarHidden = YES in Info.plist. Launch the app. Expected Result: The navigation bar should appear in the correct position immediately after launch. Actual Result: The navigation bar is misaligned on first launch, and only moves to the correct position after rotating the device.

Xcode 26.1.1 React Native build fails: “Could not delete ios/build” & “Operation not permitted”
I’m building a React Native 0.72.10 iOS app and hitting build errors. Environment: macOS: Apple M4, Sequoia 15.7.2 Xcode: 26.1.1 React Native: 0.72.10 Errors: Could not delete /Users/.../ios/build because it was not created by the build system Unable to write file '/Users/.../ios/build/Pods.build/Debug-iphonesimulator/...': Operation not permitted (Multiple Pods / React Native framework headers affected) What I’ve tried: bash rm -rf ios/build rm -rf ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/DerivedData xattr -w com.apple.xcode.CreatedByBuildSystem true ios/build pod deintegrate && pod install sudo chown -R $(whoami) ios/build Observations: ios/build is recreated automatically. Some files have com.apple.xcode.CreatedByBuildSystem: true. 3.Xcode have Full disk access authorisation. Why does Xcode fail to delete / write to ios/build even though it’s recreated automatically by the build system? Is this caused by Xcode itself, macOS permissions? Any recommended fix or workaround for these “Operation not permitted” errors?

Popovers are broken on Catalyst builds without portrait support
On macOS 15.2, any Mac Catalyst project that does not support portrait iPad orientation will no longer be able to successfully show the contents of any popover controls. This does not appear to be a problem on earlier versions of macOS and it only affects Mac Catalyst builds, not "Designed for iPad" builds. STEPS TO REPRODUCE Create a project that utilizes Mac Catalyst. Create a simple button that shows a popover with simple content. Remove Portrait as a supported orientation. Run the project on macOS 15.2 as a Mac Catalyst build. Note that the content inside the popover is not shown the popover is shown. Run the project as Designed for iPad. Note that the popover content shows correctly.

URL Session randomly returns requests extremely slowly!
Hi, I'm experiencing intermittent delays with URLSession where requests take 3-4 seconds to be sent, even though the actual server processing is fast. This happens randomly, maybe 10-20% of requests. The pattern I've noticed is I create my request I send off my request using try await urlSession.data(for: request) My middleware ends up receiving this request 4-7s after its been fired from the client-side The round trip ends up taking 4-7s! This hasn't been reproducible consistently at all on my end. I've also tried ephemeral URLSessions (so recreating the session instead of using .shared so no dead connections, but this doesn't seem to help at all) Completely lost on what to do. Please help!

UIHostingController adds extra backgrounds on iOS 26.1, breaks Liquid Glass effect
I was trying to figure out why my bottom sheet looks weird and doesn't have the "proper glass" look. I found that this issue seems to be new to iOS 26.1. See the images below, they show the same view hierarchy (in this case UIHostingController configured as bottom sheet that has NavigationStack and content. On iOS 26.1 there seems to be extra two layers of background - even though I am no adding any. iOS 26: iOS 26.1 Has anyone experienced something similar? Any workarounds? I am happy to completely disable the glass effect for this bottom sheet if it helps. The screenshots show one sheet, but the same thing happens for another ones.

how to transition between spatial3d to spatial3DImmersive?
Hi, When viewing a spatial photo scene on the Apple Vision Pro Photos app, you can tap on the immersive icon on the top right corner to transaction from the window presenting the image as spatial3d to an immersive photo scene with spatial3DImmersive where the window borders disappear. Could someone explain how to achieve that? I tried to do it but once I transition from spatial3d to spatial3DImmersive I can see still see a rectangle around the spatial image. Thanks.

Ventura Hack for FireWire Core Audio Support on Supported MacBook Pro and others...
Hi all,  Apple dropping on-going development for FireWire devices that were supported with the Core Audio driver standard is a catastrophe for a lot of struggling musicians who need to both keep up to date on security updates that come with new OS releases, and continue to utilise their hard earned investments in very expensive and still pristine audio devices that have been reduced to e-waste by Apple's seemingly tone-deaf ignorance in the cries for on-going support.  I have one of said audio devices, and I'd like to keep using it while keeping my 2019 Intel Mac Book Pro up to date with the latest security updates and OS features.  Probably not the first time you gurus have had someone make the logical leap leading to a request for something like this, but I was wondering if it might be somehow possible of shoe-horning the code used in previous versions of Mac OS that allowed the Mac to speak with the audio features of such devices to run inside the Ventura version of the OS.  Would it possible? Would it involve a lot of work? I don't think I'd be the only person willing to pay for a third party application or utility that restored this functionality. There has to be 100's of thousands of people who would be happy to spare some cash to stop their multi-thousand dollar investment in gear to be so thoughtlessly resigned to the scrap heap.  Any comments or layman-friendly explanations as to why this couldn’t happen would be gratefully received!  Thanks,  em

FoundationModel, context length, and testing
I am working on an app using FoundationModels to process web pages. I am looking to find ways to filter the input to fit within the token limits. I have unit tests, UI tests and the app running on an iPad in the simulator. It appears that the different configurations of the test environment seems to affect the token limits. That is, the same input in a unit test and UI test will hit different token limits. Is this correct? Or is this an artifact of my test tooling?

.glasseffect with multiple date pickers
Hello, I'm having a problem with the .glasseffect modifier in a view of a SwiftUI application. I have a list that starts with a static element, followed by several dynamic entries, and then another static element. I've applied the .glasseffect modifier to all the elements, and it works fine except for the first static element. I think I've figured out what's causing it. This element contains two date pickers, and if I comment one out, it works. As soon as both are present, I get a BAD_ACCESS_ERROR. Oddly enough, this only happens on the tablet. Everything runs normally in the simulator. If I remove the .glassmodifier and use a normal background, it still works. Is this a bug, or is it against Liquid Glass to have two date pickers in a stack and then use the .glasseffect modifier?

How to find the call site for incomplete completions in a stopped app?
I am fixing bugs / extending a macOS app written by somebody else in Swift. I’ve made changes to it and debugging it, so breakpoints/rebuilding/debug print/change/rerun it isn’t a problem. But it is a multi-threaded, async app, and when I pause the running app, it will not display source code location in each thread where it is. I only get assembly. [and, yes, "Always Show Assembly" in OFF] It is inherent to async apps and threading that they spend most of their time waiting for the user to do something. Hence if you stop an app, you’ll almost always be in system code somewhere. But I think wanting to see the origin of completions that are pending is a legitimate question for somebody debugging (and trying to understand how the app works). Am I not aware some feature in Xcode / LLDB to reveal this?

SwiftUI Sheet view with @Query loses model context
I've run into a strange issue. If a sheet loads a view that has a SwiftData @Query, and there is an if statement in the view body, I get the following error when running an iOS targetted SwiftUI app under MacOS 26.1: Set a .modelContext in view's environment to use Query While the view actually ends up loading the correct data, before it does, it ends up re-creating the sqlite store (opening as /dev/null). The strange thing is that this only happens if there is an if statement in the body. The statement need not ever evaluate true, but it causes the issue. Here's an example. It's based on the default xcode new iOS project w/ SwiftData: struct ContentView: View { @State private var isShowingSheet = false var body: some View { Button(action: { isShowingSheet.toggle() }) { Text("Show Sheet") } .sheet(isPresented: $isShowingSheet, onDismiss: didDismiss) { VStack { ContentSheetView() } } } func didDismiss() { } } struct ContentSheetView: View { @Environment(\.modelContext) private var modelContext @Query public var items: [Item] @State var fault: Bool = false var body: some View { VStack { if fault { Text("Fault!") } Button(action: addItem) { Label("Add Item", systemImage: "plus") } List { ForEach(items) { item in Text(item.timestamp, format: Date.FormatStyle(date: .numeric, time: .standard)) } } } } private func addItem() { withAnimation { let newItem = Item(timestamp: Date()) modelContext.insert(newItem) } } } It requires some data to be added to trigger, but after adding it and dismissing the sheet, opening up the sheet with trigger the Set a .modelContext in view's environment to use Query. Flipping on -com.apple.CoreData.SQLDebug 1 will show it trying to recreate the database. If you remove the if fault { Text("Fault!") } line, it goes away. It also doesn't appear to happen on iPhones or in the iPhone simulator. Explicitly passing modelContext to the ContentSheetView like ContentSheetView().modelContext(modelContext) also seems to fix it. Is this behavior expected?
